The Nightmare

As they told me what you planned to do, You smiled the smile that you smiled when I said I Love you. Hang me, gut me, sprawled across the rack. O cruel torturer! O treacherous rat! You made my heart move But it was all an act. And so you sat there,smiling. That horrible grin beguiling with as much menace a to the bull the matador. Yes, you made me think your feeling were true. And the worst part is I still love you. Then, tossing and turning I soon awoke. And spitting these word with great guilt I spoke. For pity and insults to you do not lend, For now, I console to be your best friend.
